Any ideas please for a unique fancy dress party?

Author: admin  |  Category: party dress

Its my 40th birthday at new year, the timing is always a pain for getting people together. I’m determined to have a fun and memorable party. I don’t really want lots of people dressed up as teddy bears, I want something original but that won’t cost people a fortune to hire. If its a good theme it would be nice to dress the room in that style; ideas?

make it like your "opening night" roll out the red carpet have some people out front flashing cameras and asking for autographs and do a lot of black and white on the inside. make yourself and all your guests feel like movie stars at their premier showing of a movie. maybe do one of those champagne glass pyramids at the beginning of the party and possibly do a faux awards ceremony (best dressed male/female, best couple, king/queen stag stuff like that)

Have a naturist party. Can’t get cheaper than a birthday suit.

How about a party with an era theme, like the 70′s or 60′s flower children? Roaring 20′s with flappers….you can buy alot of older stuff for those type of costumes at a thrift store, so it wouldn’t cost too much. Your decorations could be pretty easy, depending on the decade.
    Good luck and happy 40th!

For my husband’s birthday we did a Hillbilly theme – we dressed in check shirts and ripped jeans, had tex mex food, tin baths filled with bottles of budweiser, homemade moonshine (punch), tin can shoot in the garden and bales of hay in the garden delivered locally from a farm. Make sure to put twinkly outdoor lanterns in the garden for a homely barn dance feel. Yee-hah!

How about a "The Year You Were Born Party" based on the Chinese symbols. No need for the whole animal costume, though some will go the whole hog, as homemade masks would suffice. The house could then be dressed with lots of pretty lanterns etc.and a buffet of chinese food. Here is a chart to show you just who could turn up.

I totally agree with awwdree, dinner suits and cocktail dresses. It would be brill. Champagne cocktails, someone taking photo’s as the guests arrive, a red carpet up your garden path. But then any excuse to get dressed up to the nines!

I’m not sure if your female or male as your ID doesn’t suggest, anyway if your male why not get everyone to come as their favourite football player, you could hire a sports hall and have a ‘match’. You could even take on the world cup theme and get everyone to choose from a list of countries, or put them into a hat to add to the surprise. If your female you could have a beach theme and get everyone to come dressed in their beach attire, but make sure you have the central heating on!
You could make palm trees out of cardboard and paint them,
put a yellow piece of material down for the sand, loungers,
umbrella’s etc and make a huge tropical punch or even have an indoor barbeque! Or hire an indoor pool and decorate that! Happy 40th

Hmm, new year… Why don’t you ask people to dress up how they think people will be dressing in the future (?) Seeing as it’s the new year. Ask them to make a new ‘fashion statement’ that could feature in the New Year. I think that could be kind of cool.
