I bought an evening gown for a fancy black tie wedding and the dress ends at my ankle. Is this acceptable? my shoes show and the dress does not sweep the floor.

Yes. It’s alright if your shoes show in an evening gown, but make sure the dress does not come above your ankles. Then, it looks tacky. In this case, though, make sure your feet look good i.e. pedicure…
