What is a best kind of cocktail dress for a chubby/fat girl ?

We’re required to wear cocktail dresses. So, I’m trying to find a cocktail dress that will suit fat girls like me.
OK – first the fabric should be dull or matte finished, not shiny. Probably a solid dark color.
The lines should lengthen you to eliminate some of the width. A deep v neck line is good. The skirt should be fairly straight. The length will depend on the rest of your body. If you have good legs, you might go with a shorter length. If you legs are heavy, get a longer length.
It would be a good idea to wear a shawl or something colorful at the shoulder/neck area to direct people’s eyes to your face, not your chubbiness.
And, remember, you can’t hide your body completely. But, you can ignore it and have a good time. Most people at the ball will be concerned with how they look, not how you look.
