My friend is having a bat mitzvah on September 30th and I really need to buy a fantastic dress. I usually buy my dresses at BCBG, but I checked online and none of their dresses are cute. The party is "cocktail attire". I would prefer to not spend over $250, seeing as I would only wear the dress once.

I have a black cocktail dress to which I’d like to add a pair of halter straps. I don’t know how to sew. Is there a way to do this without having to use the needle or sewing machine?
Is there anywhere I can buy dress straps? Or should I cut the fabric from a fabric store?
You should get it altered by a professional seamstress if you don’t know how to sew. It shouldn’t cost too much, they’re just straps.
Go to a fabric store and find some fabric of the same exact color, texture, and material. Cut enough extra material to allow for her (or him) to try different things and see what you like best.
edit: If you buy dress straps, where are you going to put them? Strapless dresses don’t come equipped with hooks in which to place the straps. PLEASE do not cut holes in the dress, what if the straps don’t come out right like that.. you’ll end up with holes in your dress. Let a professional handle it, it’s their job, they know what to do to make it look good.
