I have a black cocktail dress to which I’d like to add a pair of halter straps. I don’t know how to sew. Is there a way to do this without having to use the needle or sewing machine?
Is there anywhere I can buy dress straps? Or should I cut the fabric from a fabric store?
You should get it altered by a professional seamstress if you don’t know how to sew. It shouldn’t cost too much, they’re just straps.
Go to a fabric store and find some fabric of the same exact color, texture, and material. Cut enough extra material to allow for her (or him) to try different things and see what you like best.
edit: If you buy dress straps, where are you going to put them? Strapless dresses don’t come equipped with hooks in which to place the straps. PLEASE do not cut holes in the dress, what if the straps don’t come out right like that.. you’ll end up with holes in your dress. Let a professional handle it, it’s their job, they know what to do to make it look good.

hey! i actually just had this problem like a month ago!
i too don’t really know how to sew or use a sewing machine and i really wasn’t in the mood to learn cause of the studying i had for exams.
there are a few ways you could do it…
a)you can cut a small whole in each side of the dress where you want the straps to be attached. You can then tie the straps on the inside of the dress so the knots can’t be seen.
b) if you want to buy straps, there are often a lot of clear and colored straps at lasenza. You can just ask one of the workers for their assistance.

Buy some black ribon put a real small slit were the strap will go put it in the slit tie a little knot and there’s your strap’s.
