Buy Cocktail Dress

My friend is having an 18th birthday party and has said that we must all dress up as a pop star. Any ideas of who i can go as which is easy and won’t really cost much?

I think it was in the 80′s that this was a style. Remember those evening dresses/hostess gowns with 2 flaps in the front and 2 flaps in the back, and worn over pants? Did that dress/style have a name?

Remember that it is a party so you want a fun dress (ie colour) but you don’t want to out-do the birthday girl. A good selection will give you a dress that you can wear for years to come to various functions (such as dinners and weddings) so choose wisely.

I’m looking for something not too expensive like 200 300, but something good. More like cocktail dresses and stuff. Pleaaase don’t say windsor, that place is over rated xD

Try Betsey Johnson, there’s like 3 or 4 of them. Try BCBG as well. If you are looking for something different, I’d recommend those two places. Honestly, you can try to shop sale at some designer stores. Robert Cavalli had an amazing sale last year and I got a $1600 dress for $800 that was SO cute!

If they wore ‘night gowns’ they’d be asleep.

You’d wear the the morning dress until 5pm, but after that it’s the evening dress. And then, for night time, you would change into your night gown to sleep.

I’m looking for a halloween costume or something i can be with just things around the house but i want it to be cheap. Now i would just go to a goodwiill or something but im a plus size women and its harder for me to find costumes and clothes to fit. I have a really nice black cocktail dress to work with, some gothic jewelery and some old halloween stuff in our "halloween box" any suggestions on what i can be?

A ghost if you use a sheet or blanket.

Just a random gothic person with the dress you have and some dark makeup.

A hobo if you wear really old, holey, dirty clothes.

Wear a bathing suit and carry a towel and be a beach-bum.

Wear mis-matched clothes and do your hair hald up and half down and be a crazy person or something like that.

Wear jeans and a plaid shirt, braid your hair and find a cowboy hat at the thrift store to be a cowgirl.

Be a school girl by wearing a solid sweater and a plaid skirt.

Find a big old jacket or a old blanket you can wear around your shoulders. Take a bunch of cheap junk-jewelry and safety-pin them to the insides of the jacket/blanket and be a street salesman person thing.

Be a lady from the past by wearing a really fancy dress and hat with your hair up.

For something nice but fairly suttle I would try…

River island – They often have very pretty dresses, cocktail style.

Warehouse – They do some lovely dresses – but a lot are dry clean this is fine thou for a cocktail style one that you wont wear very often.

Jane Norman – sometimes have some ncie strapless style dresses.
